Summary

  • No default API endpoint or key. You configure your own OpenAI-compatible endpoint.
  • Selected or page text is sent only to the endpoint you configure; nothing is sent elsewhere.
  • Settings, preferences, and recent history are stored locally in chrome.storage; you can clear them anytime.
  • No analytics, identifiers, or browsing history collection beyond what is needed to process requests.

Data We Handle

  • User-provided text: selected text or extracted page text you choose to translate/summarize/explain.
  • Configuration: API base URL, API key (if required by your endpoint), model, timeout, temperature, target language, UI preferences, local history.
  • Page URL: read to apply domain-based model rules and attach to history (stored locally).

How Data Is Used

  • Text you submit is sent to your configured OpenAI-compatible /v1/chat/completions endpoint for a response.
  • Configuration and history stay local; not shared with third parties by the extension.
  • No data is sold, shared, or used for advertising/analytics.

Storage & Retention

  • Local only: chrome.storage.local/sync for config, preferences, and recent history (capped ~50 entries). Clearable anytime in Options.
  • No server-side storage by this extension. Your chosen endpoint may log data per its own policy.

Transmission Security

  • Use HTTPS for your API base URL. Avoid plain HTTP.
  • Requests are JSON POSTs; no tracking headers or query parameters added by the extension.

Consent & Control

  • Data is sent only when you trigger translate/summarize/explain after configuring an endpoint.
  • You can disable the extension, clear history/config, or change/remove the API key anytime.
